RECIPE: Quick & Easy Vegan Dal Makhani

Ready in 30 minutes

Serves 4 people


  • 1 can of kidney beans
  • 1 can of black lentils 
  • ½ can on crushed tomatoes 
  • ½ Yellow or white onion
  • 5 cloves of garlic 
  • Olive oil or butter 
  • Cumin powder, paprika, garlic powder, or indian spice blend  


  1. Saute onions and garlic in olive oil. You want to heat the oil on medium heat.  Add the diced onion with a little pinch of salt. When they start to become translucent add the garlic. Cook them until they become fragrant, slightly golden, and  soft.. 
  2. Add kidney beans, lentils, and tomatoes. Cook on medium low heat for 5 mins  
  3. Add seasoning to taste. Flavor to your preferences and simmer on medium low. 


For a freshness, add cilantro on top

For extra heat, add a seeded, diced jalapeno during step 1 of preparation

Pair with fresh basmati rice on the side
